Remembrance is Holy

Yizkor candlesEach year at Yizkor on Yom Kippur, we remembering those whose souls touched ours and who have since left this world of flesh and blood, the world of ‘asiyah.

The act of remembering is itself a holy deed, keeping the thread that binds their existence to ours.  These threads are the weave of our lives.

At Yizkor, we read aloud the names of those we remember, especially those who have left this world since Yom Kippur last year.

I invite you to send me the names of those you remember and want to have read out loud.  Send me a brief word or two about who they were to you.  Parents.  Siblings.  Teachers.  Friends.  Neighbours.  Role models.  Companions.

Send their names, please, by September 15, 2010.

Zichronam li-vrachah . . . may their memory be a blessing.
