Kabbalat Shabbat and dinner, November 19

Join us in welcoming Shabbat, Friday evening, November 19, at Rabbi David and Michal’s home.
We’ll gather for camaraderie, song and prayer beginning at 6:30.  Usually, we hang out and settle in a bit.  Then, we sit in a circle, some on the floor on cushions, some in chairs, and we sing a few songs that bring us into Shabbat, often with very sweet guitar accompaniment.  Sometimes between songs, I (David) share a teaching or two from Torah.

And then, everyone usually stays for dinner beginning with Kiddush over wine around 7:30.  I will prepare a vegetarian/fish main dish.  Each guest contributes a side dish to round out the  meal – salads, drinks, desserts, cheese, humous, etc.  We also ask each guest to bring $5 and drop it into our mailbox on the porch to help us recover some of our costs.  Please RSVP to rabbi@ahavat-olam.ca by November 18.

All food brought to our house needs to be kosher.  To know our way of keeping a kosher house, please see http://tinyurl.com/33elvhk. If you have any questions at all, please check with me first.

Our house is at 2644 Manitoba Street in Vancouver.  The front entrance has a flight of steps and is not accessible to people with mobility restrictions.  The back door has only one step and we can put a ramp there for anyone who needs it.  If you want the ramp, tell me in advance at (604) 875-0240.
