Brown and white hands sewing a Sefer Torah

The weekly parshah (Torah portion) is Yitro (Exodus 18:1 – 20:23). It’s named for Moses’ father-in-law, whom we know in English as Jethro and who, according to one stream of our tradition, was black. Jethro advises Moses to delegate authority, advice he heeds. May we all receive, and heed, and grow to give, such wise advice, as we seek, each of us in our own way, our path to Sinai.
