Ahavat Olam Synagogue welcomes everyone to join us on line via Zoom in thoughtful, moving Shabbat morning prayers on June 5, 2021 at 10:00 am, mostly sung, much in Hebrew, some in English, some in the language of the heart and in the speech of the angels.

The weekly parshah (Torah portion) is Shelach-Lecha (Numbers 13:1-15:41). Moses sends 12 spies to check out the promised land. 10 of them persuade the people that while the rewards are great, the difficulties are too difficult to overcome. We are punished for our weakness of will with 40 more years of wandering in the wilderness. We also receive the commandment — recited daily as part of the Shema — to put fringes on the corners of our garments as an ever-present reminder.
