Ahavat Olam Synagogue welcomes everyone to join us online via Zoom for thoughtful, moving Shabbat evening prayers on June 24, 2022 at 7:30pm, mostly sung, much in Hebrew, some in English, some in the language of the heart and in the speech of the angels.
Please join us if you can: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86731808237?pwd=T094RTFrRTdOSW5iME12Q2dMUkRoZz09
The weekly parshah (Torah portion) is Shelach Lekha (Numbers 13:1-15:41). It begins with the story of the twelve scouts — “all of them being people of consequence, leaders among the children of Israel” — sent ahead to spy out the promised land. When they return, ten of them give a disastrous report, exaggerated beyond reality by their own fears. Only two, Joshua and Caleb, are willing to go against the majority opinion and speak their truth.
Sometimes we need to have the courage of our convictions and think for ourselves!
